This article is about taking your career into your own hands. I've learned a lot over the last few years. As a full-time author, I am proud to roll up my sleeves every day to write the next novel in The Street Life Series. After the book is printed, I enjoy touching what I envisioned in my mind months or even years ago.
This weekend, my debut novel, The Street Life Series: Is It Suicide or Murder?, received an Honorable Mention from the Do It Yourself Book Festival Awards in the fiction category. I know this might sound minute for some; however, when you are recognized by the experts in a specific field, this takes things to another level for me. As a self-published author, writing the novel is the easy part. There is the creation and execution of a book marketing plan and campaign. Marketing decisions have to be made, tested, implemented, validated and revalidated.
Well, guess what? I have to thank a lot of people for their support of my marketing efforts. Without the support of my family and several in the publishing industry this recognition would not be possible. So I thank Xlibris, Disilgold, African American Literature Book Club, Awareness Magazine, Booking Matters Magazine, SORMAG, RAWSISTAZ Literary Group, C&B Books, Blackrefer, B's Books & More, Urban Reviews, and Cushcity to name a few. I wish I had the space to name everybody, because I know that I could never do it by myself.
Peace,
Kevin M. Weeks & The Street Life Series Team
